“Tritour East Asia” is an online travel community that I created with my team. The content focuses on 3 countries: China, Japan, South Korea. We share travel tips, answer followers’ questions, teach three languages, and provides travel deals.
The 6-week project is consist of a blog and three social media accounts. All blog articles were written by the team. Most images on social media channels were royalty free images. Content on three channels were slightly different and were specifically picked for each platform. We focused on one country each week to build audience’s interests on the Friday blog post, which would be relevant content of that country. Hashtags, short videos, and reposted content were used to increase engagement.
The project was completed in a 3-people-team. One teammate designed logo, the other one built Tritour website. I created content calendar and supervized everyday’s update on all channels. I wrote 2 blog posts about China, updated all posts on Instagram and about half of the posts on Facebook and Twitter.
Logo Design
There are three colors in Tritour Logo: blue represents South Korea, yellow represents China, and red represents Japan. Triangle shape matches our name, suggesting three countries. It also symbolizes mountains, which are related to travel.
Brand Concept
My team and I first came up with idea to create Tritour, because as a team of three with people from China, Japan, and South Korea, we found similarities among the three countries all the time. And people who are interested in one East Asian country are generally curious about the other two countries as well. Therefore, a platform to share insignt on East Asian Countries could be a big hit. Our research also showed that there was no similar account. This is how Tritour was born.
Generally speaking, we update #learn3languages (see what it is in next section) on Instagram Story and Twitter three times a week, Instagram regular post and Facebook post twice a week. Blog was posted on Friday and announced on Facebook.
After two weeks executing it, I decided to make some adjustments.
1. #learn3languages took too much space on the channels, and it was troublesome to record Instagram Story on Saturday when team member didn’t meet. Therefore, it became twice a week.
2. Instead of preannouncing upcoming blog post, we gave reminders when blog was already posted.
3. In order to diversify our content and increase interaction with other accounts, I added a “reposting Sunday” on Facebook and Twitter.
#learn3languages is a hashtag on Twitter and Instagram Story where you could find Tritour teaching Chinese, Japanese and Korean at the same time. From a language teacher background, I came up with this idea to attract more people to follow Tritour’s accounts.
The words we are teaching are generally short, easy to remember, and usuful during travel. Sometimes, you would find one phrase pornunced almost the same in these three languages. We post words on Twitter and demostrate pronunciation on Instagram Story.
Here are some of the phrases we taught:
How much money : [Chinese] 多少钱 duoshao qian [Japanese] いくらですか? Ikura desuka? [Korean] 얼마에요? Ur ma ae yo?
What is your recommendation?: [Chinese] 你有什么推荐 ni you shenme tuijian [Japanese] オススメは何ですか?osusume wa na n desu ka? [Korean] 추천하는게 모에요 Coo chun ha neun gae mo eh yo
Cheers : [Chinese] 干杯 gan bei [Japanese] 乾杯 Kan pai! [Korean] 건배 Gun bae
Delicious : [Chinese] 好吃 hao chi [Japanese] 美味しい oi shii [Korean] 맛있어 Mat eat uh
In totle, we produced 6 blog posts for this project, two for China, two for Japan, and two for South Korea. The two articles here were written by me.
I compiled two images albums and shared on Tritour Facebook. All images were taken by me. For best SEO practice, I added tittle, description, tags, hashtags to each album and all images.
